When should I file for graduation ?

We recommend that you file for graduation during your senior year, the sooner the better. File no later than the 8th week of the quarter before you intend to graduate. For example, 8th week of Fall for Winter term.

How do I apply for graduation?

Before you can file your Degree and Diploma application online, you must:

  • Verify that the following are accurate:
    • Major
    • Major Code
    • name as you wish it to appear on your diploma
    • current and permanent addresses
    • UCSD email address
  • Declare a minor requirement with department if you are pursuing a minor.
  • Submit Programs of Concentration (PofCs)/Area Studies at http://pofc.ucsd.edu

    OR

  • For verified Transfer TAG/IGETC and UC Reciprocity students, list two approved non-contiguous upper-division courses at http://pofc.ucsd.edu and confirm that your selections are approved.
File for graduation at http://degree.ucsd.edu

I discovered that I can't graduate this quarter. What do I need to do?

You may retract in one of three ways: make your request via the Virtual Advising Center at http://vac.ucsd.edu; come to walk-in advising; come to walk-in advising; or submit a "Retraction of Degree & Diploma Request" form.

Deadlines are the 8th week of the graduation quarter or August 15th for Summer Session.

When is commencement?

Commencement is held the weekend following Spring Quarter finals. Check the Warren College web site beginning the first week of Spring Quarter for commencement information.

Can I participate in the graduation ceremony if I graduate in summer? How about fall?

For the current year, you may participate in the graduation ceremony for both Summer and Fall graduation dates. However, only Summer graduates will have their names printed on the graduation progra. Fall graduates will have their names listed in next year's program.(Must have 135 units by WI07 term)
