Research Paper

Each year graduating seniors who have completed a research paper which has received high evaluations here at UCSD may compete for the Michael Addison Award. The award is named after the Honors Program founder, and is presented at the graduation ceremony to the student who wrote the most outstanding research paper. The paper may be written for independent research, or as part of a classroom experience, and must have been supervised by a UCSD faculty member. The topic of the paper can come from any academic discipline.

Guidelines:

  • The paper may be written for Independent Study (199) credit or as part of an Academic Internship (197).
  • The professor who supervises the research project must send an evaluation to the Honors Program Coordinator, Gretchen Harris. Professors may email their evaluations to Gretchen Harris.
  • The length of each paper may range from 6 to 50 pages.
  • Two hard copies of the paper must be submitted to the Honors Program Office by May 6, 2007.

If you have additional questions, contact Gretchen Harris, Room 1108, EBU3, Computer Science & Engineering Building. Telephone: (858) 534-1704.

The 2006-2007 Addison Award recipient is Lindsay Giedraitis for her outstanding research paper, "Compensation and Risk Taking by Hedge Fund Managers". Congratulations, Lindsay!
