Individual AssistanceOne-on-one mentoring services are provided in the Warren College wing of the Computer Science and Engineering Building (EBU3), in Room 1109. Feel free to come by and see a peer writing mentor during our regularly scheduled hours for assistance at any stage of the writing process — from brainstorming for ideas to polishing a final draft. Individual mentoring sessions are generally allotted 30 minutes. 2008 FALL QUARTER SCHEDULE: TO BE ANNOUNCEDAssistance by appointmentMaking an appointment is not required, but it is highly recommended, and it can serve to guarantee you a full session with no waiting. You can schedule an appointment by contacting the center coordinator via e-mail: mpicciotto@ucsd.edu. Whenever possible, try to schedule an appointment 48 hours in advance. Drop-in assistanceWriting mentors can provide drop-in assistance as time permits. However, students with appointments always get priority over drop-ins. Keep in mind that if you drop in towards the end of the center's operating hours, you may not receive a full session. Regular weekly assistanceStudents may also sign up for ongoing weekly assistance with writing assignments, meeting with one particular mentor throughout the course of a quarter. To arrange for weekly assistance, contact the center coordinator via e-mail: mpicciotto@ucsd.edu. Canceling a scheduled appointmentShould it become necessary to cancel or reschedule a mentoring session, please e-mail the center coordinator as soon as possible: mpicciotto@ucsd.edu. We ask that you provide at least 12 hours notice if you must cancel. How should you prepare for a mentoring session?Try to come to your session with a clear understanding of the assignment. Identify specific questions and concerns that you would like to address. Please bring any relevant materials such as the assignment prompt, notes, an outline, or a rough draft. We ask that any written materials you would like the mentors to review be printed out for us, as it is difficult to work with text on a laptop.
