To have your name listed in the commencement program, you must submit your DDA by week 6 of Spring quarter.

Graduation and commencement are two distinct terms.

  • Graduation is the term used to describe when a student has completed all requirements and his/her degree has been officially posted to the academic record.
  • Commencement is the annual ceremony in which eligible students participate. Participation in the commencement ceremony does not constitute official graduation from the University. Read more about commencement.

Before filing, check the following:

Degree Audit

  • View your Degree Audit on TritonLink for graduation requirements. Check the date on audit to ensure it has been refreshed recently.
  • Read the Academic Regulations in the UC San Diego General Catalog.
  • Questions about your Degree Audit?
    • Contact your College through the Virtual Advising Center for general education requirement questions.
    • Contact your Department for major or minor requirement questions.

Verify that the following information is accurate on TritonLink

  • Major and major code (along with BA or BS)
  • Minor is posted
  • Name as you wish it to appear on your diploma
  • Current and permanent addresses.

If any of the above information is not accurate, correct it immediately at the Registrar's Office

After the above has been confirmed, file for graduation via the Virtual Advising Center. Select the RED graduation tab to begin the process.

If you fail to meet the graduation requirements by the end of the quarter in which you filed, you must retract your original graduation application and file a new electronic Degree and Diploma Application (EDDA) form with your NEW quarter of graduation.

Degree Audit Timeline

  • The College will post your graduation notice via Virtual Advising Center
  • If you have transfer course(s) yet to be posted, the UC San Diego Admissions Office must receive your official transcript. Check your TritonLink record and alert us when the credit has been posted.
  • Once grades are final, the College reviews your audit, checks for major department approval, and verifies that all requirements are complete.
  • The College will send finalized audit to the Office of the Registrar. Degrees will be conferred by the Office of the Registrar within 90 days after final grades are posted. Check TritonLink to verify that your degree has been officially conferred.
  • If you need verification of your degree, request your transcript via TritonLink.
  • Your diploma will be mailed to your permanent address 30-90 days after the degree has been posted. Find out more about diplomas and ordering transcripts on TritonLink

UC San Diego and your College will correspond only via your UC San Diego email address. Be sure to check it frequently.
