The Writing Center director offers regularly-scheduled group workshops addressing a range of writing tasks. All workshops will be held in the Computer Science and Engineering Building (EBU3B), Medium Conference Room #1115. For more information, contact the center director at mpicciotto@ucsd.edu.

Writing Personal Statements for Graduate and Professional School

Wednesday, October 14th, 3:30 - 5:00 pm
We will introduce general guidelines for effective application essays,
review the basic elements that should be included,
and examine successful and not-so-successful essay examples.

Preparing for the GRE Analytical Writing Section

Wednesday, October 28th, 3:30 - 5:00 pm
We will examine GRE essay prompts, review organizational
formats, analyze sample responses, and discuss strategies
for success under time pressure.

Preparing for the MCAT Writing Sample

Wednesday, November 18th, 3:30 - 5:00 pm
We will examine MCAT essay prompts, review organizational
formats, analyze sample responses, and discuss strategies
for success under time pressure.

Surviving the Basic Writing (SDCC) Exit Exam

Wednesday, December 2nd, 3:30 - 5:00 pm
We will discuss strategies for approaching the reading passages
and techniques for organizing and developing essays under time pressure.
