Warren Writing Scholars Seminar
WARR 11A & 11B
The Warren College Scholars Seminar (WARR 11A-B), which will be offered in winter and spring 2017, satisfies the two-quarter Warren College writing requirement. The Scholars Seminar sequence helps students to develop critical thinking, reading, and writing skills that are crucial for academic success at the undergraduate and graduate level. It is intended for high-achieving students who welcome the challenge of a rigorous curriculum. Enrollment is by invitation only.
Each year, the Scholars Seminar focuses on a specific theme that unifies all course activities. This year's theme is TBD and Dr. Karen Gocsik of the Basic Writing Program will be the course instructor. In addition to regular class instruction, the seminar will include a winter reading assignment. The seminar is limited to a maximum of 18 students to allow for greater participation and individualized instruction.
Applications for WARR 11A/11B will automatically be distributed to eligible Warren students. Eligibility is determined on the basis of high school GPA (3.8 minimum) and standardized test scores (700 and above on the Critical Reading and Writing sections of the SAT). Eligible candidates must submit a sample of academic writing and a statement of interest.
