Encouraging students to understand the important contributions an individual can make in society and live the College motto, Toward a Life in Balance

Welcome to Warren

Earl Warren College was established in 1974 as the fourth undergraduate college at the University of California, San Diego. Warren College currently has about 4,700 students from all majors, along with approximately 150 faculty members assigned from all areas of the UC San Diego campus, and around 30 full-time staff supporting Warren students. As part of UC San Diego’s residential college system, Warren provides undergraduate students with the interdisciplinary diversity, customized support, and leadership opportunities of a small liberal arts college alongside the elite academics of one of the world's leading public research universities – all just blocks from the beach!

The Warren College motto, "Toward a Life in Balance,” is inspired by the philosophy of our namesake, former U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice Earl Warren. The College continues the legacy of Earl Warren by encouraging students to explore the relationship between ethics, society, and the law and is dedicated to cultivating ethically responsible citizen scholars who will flourish during their careers at UC San Diego and beyond, once they graduate as well-rounded alumni poised to contribute to our global society.
