Welcome
Law and Society is an interdisciplinary minor that explores the complexity and interrelationship of legal, social, and ethical issues in their historical context.
The minor focuses on the relation of the law to political, economic and social conflicts, and examines how the law both reflects and defines basic social values. The interdisciplinary content of the program offers UCSD students the opportunity to examine law-related issues from the perspectives of a broad range of disciplines, including : Anthropology, Communication, Critical Gender Studies, Economics, Environmental Studies, Ethnic Studies, History, Linguistics, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, and Urban Studies and Planning.
Although it is administered by Warren College, Law and Society is available to all undergraduate students at UCSD. This program will be particularly useful for students who are considering legal careers or who have a general interest in the law as a social institution.
Students who are interested in creating an individual major in Law and Society should contact the program coordinator for more information.*
*This option is not available to Sixth College students.
