Important Information

Warren College General Education (GE) requirements and University graduation requirements

Understanding GEs explains the purpose of the unique College requirements. You may view the Warren GE requirements and the University requirements online.

Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB)

UC grants credit for all AP tests on which a student scores a 3 or higher. Subject credit may be applied toward a minor, prerequisite to a major, college general education requirements or elective units toward graduation.

UC grants eight units of credit for each higher level IB exam. Departments and colleges determine whether IB elective credit will apply toward majors, minors, or general education. The IB credit limit at UCSD is 30 units.

Using the AP and IB grids you can determine which UCSD courses are exempted based on your test scores, as well as, which Warren College General Education requirements are fulfilled. Students cannot receive credit for a UCSD course which duplicates AP or IB credit.

Transferable College-level Coursework

UC gives unit (coursework) credit for classes taken at other accredited colleges and universities. Courses must be approximated with those offered at UCSD as determined by the Office of Admissions and Relations with Schools. You can see how college-level coursework are approximated via www.assist.org.

Placement Exams

Placement exams are very important for successful enrollment in classes. Some exams are required for course enrollment. Placement exams ensure that you enroll in the appropriate level course. If you have not already done so, plan to take the Math Placement Exam and the Analytical Writing Placement Exam in September. Take the appropriate chemistry and language web-based exams, if you plan to take chemistry or language courses at UCSD.

Transfer Course-work this Summer and next Fall

If you plan to take courses at the community colleges this summer and next fall, review Selecting UCSD Transferable Courses to ensure that the courses you take are transferable. Remember to send your transcripts to the UCSD Admissions Office.

Course Enrollment Fall Quarter

You will receive individual counselor course recommendations via the orientation web site and at the on-campus program in August. You should also refer to the Four-year Educational Plan for your major. You will receive a copy of the Warren College Advising Handbook at the On-Campus Program in September. You may also view the Handbook online.

Freshmen Admit Day PowerPoint

You may view a PDF of the Winter Freshman PowerPoint presented at Freshman Admit Day in April.

Housing Options

Off-Campus Housing Office can assist in finding off-campus housing. Commuter Student Services provides valuable resources including transportation information, how to get involved, and places to relax, eat and study on campus.
