Residents have received an email containing information about move-in for Fall 2017.

ROOM ASSIGNMENT INFORMATION:

Go to http://hdh.ucsd.edu/housing/roomassignment/pages/index.html.  Click the LOGIN button at the bottom of the page.  You will need your PID (or Username) and password.  On this site, you will find your room assignment, mailing address, list of roommates, your assigned move-in date and time, and Qwik-Pass.  Should you have technical difficulties with the website above, please email ucsdhousing@ucsd.edu.  Please include your name, PID, and screenshot of the problem.

MOVE-IN INFORMATION:

Move-in day for our first-year students is Saturday, September 23, 2017.  You must check in during the hour you are assigned.  PLEASE BE ON TIME

If you are attending the September Orientation for International and Out of State first-year students on Tuesday, September 19, you will be able to change your move-in date to either Monday, September 18 or Tuesday, September 19. Early move-in is optional and additional daily charges will apply. Please check the available dates and times on the Change Move-In Date button found on the MyRoomAssignment page of the housing portal.  This option is available only to students attending the Warren September 19th Orientation. Should you have any difficulties, please contact the Warren Residential Life Office at warrenreslife@ucsd.edu, or 858-534-4581.  Please check your previous email from our office for early move-in costs.

Instructions for Saturday, September 23:

  1. Print your Qwik-Pass and place on your vehicle’s dashboard (driver’s side) on move-in day.
  2. Follow the driving directions (see attached map 1) to UCSD and proceed to Parking Lot P502.
    1. You will be directed where to park your car in our 45-minute parking zone.
    2. Once your car is parked, follow the signs (on foot) to the Warren Student Activity Center (SAC).  See SAC on the attached map.  A licensed driver (other than the student) will need to remain with the vehicle at all times.
  3. Once at SAC, the following will occur:
    1. You will be directed to your specific building line to wait
    2. Your check-in time will be verified.
    3. Students must show a picture ID in order to receive their keys and inventory form.  Students must pick up their own keys.
    4. There will be a limited number of rolling blue bins available (a valid state-issued driver’s license or state-issued ID is required for rental) to assist in moving your belongings.  We highly recommend that you bring your own dolly/hand truck to transport your belongings from the parking lot to your room, as the availability of move-in bins is not guaranteed.  Move-in bins are limited to a 45-minute usage.
  4. Once you have your keys, you can return to the parking lot to begin unloading and moving your belongings to your new living space.
    1. Resident Assistants (RAs) and Move-In Assistants will be visible throughout the Warren Complex to help direct you to your building.  There will also be signs posted to help guide you.
    2. Vehicles will have 45 minutes from the time they first enter Parking Lot P502 to check in and unload their belongings.  Parking compliance officers will be patrolling the lot and vehicles may be cited if they exceed the 45-minute limit.
    3. Temporary 20 minute parking spots will also be set up on Justice and Equality Lanes.  Students in certain buildings may find this area more convenient for unloading their belongings once they complete the check-in process.
  5. Once finished, you will need to move your vehicle to the Hopkins parking structure (see attached map).  We are moving in over 1,600 students so you cannot stay parked in Parking Lot 502.  There will be signs directing you to the Hopkins parking structure.  Vehicles parked illegally (on sidewalks, in cul-de-sacs, in reserved spaces, past the 45-minute limit, etc.) may be cited.  You will not need a permit to park on campus on the weekend.  (Permits are required on campus M-F 7 AM -11 PM.) Refer to the UCSD Transportation Services website for up-to-date parking information: http://parking.ucsd.edu/
  6. If you are under the age of 18 at the time of move-in, fill out and bring the Minor Student Form (available on the MyAssignments page) and have it ready to turn in BEFORE you receive your keys at SAC.  A parent and/or guardian will need to sign this document.

If you will be arriving to campus between Monday, September 25 through Thursday, September 28, please contact the Warren Residential Life Office at warrenreslife@ucsd.edu. Your check-in must take place no later than 4:00 pm, Thursday, September 28 (per your housing contract).  First-year students are highly encouraged to arrive no later than Saturday, September 23 for Welcome Week activities.

Any student who changes their move-in time to be between September 18-22 or September 25-28 will be picking up their keys from the Warren Residential Life Office. Please refer to the attached map 2 which gives you directions to the Warren Residential Life Office for your key pick up.  Parking permits are required weekdays in the parking lots from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm.  You can purchase a permit at any parking kiosk.  There is one located at Voigt and Gilman Drives.  RAs and Move-In Assistants will not be available during these two-time frames.

Appliance Restrictions

  • Appliances: Air conditioners are prohibited as well as appliances with open electrical coils and electric grills. All small electrical appliances must be UL approved and subject to the electrical capacity of the room.
  • Cooking: The Warren Residential Halls do not have kitchens or kitchenettes; therefore, only microwave ovens with a capacity of 1.5 cubic feet or less and a maximum of 700 watts are allowed (no rice cookers, hot plates, etc.)
  • Refrigerators: Only refrigerators with a capacity smaller than five (5) cubic feet with a safe UL-approved electrical system are allowed in residence halls. Apartments already have a refrigerator.
  • For more information on Residential Responsibilities go to http://warren.ucsd.edu/res-life/responsibilities.html

SOME IMPORTANT TIPS TO REMEMBER FOR THE MOVE-IN PROCESS:

  • Everyone is assigned a specific time.  KINDLY BE ON TIME.  Students who miss their assigned time will have to wait until 4:00 – 8:00 PM to check in and begin moving their belongings. If you will be arriving after 8:00 PM due to transportation issues, please contact our office ahead of time at warrenreslife@ucsd.edu.
  • Arrive as close to your specific move-in time as possible.  If you come earlier, you will NOT be allowed to move in until your assigned time.  Every student has been assigned a specific time.  This helps reduce waiting in lines, parking congestion, and delays using the elevators.  In order for the process to work properly, we need everyone’s cooperation.
  • Expect to wait.  We will do our very best to provide you with the best possible service we can; however, please come prepared to patiently wait.
    • Keep in mind this tends to a time when it is hot and humid.  We suggest you bring water and snacks as you wait.  Please dress for the hot and humid weather and moving boxes.  You may want to check our local forecast on the weather channel at https://weather.com/weather/tenday/l/La+Jolla+CA+92037:4:US.
    • Please be patient.
    • Please be kind and courteous to our staff.
    • Make sure you have gas in your vehicle before coming onto campus.
  • You must check in and pick up your keys no later than 4:00 pm on Thursday, September 28.  If you will be arriving late, you must notify our office in advance via email at warrenreslife@ucsd.edu by 4:00 pm on Monday, September 25, 2017.
  • You are not allowed to be in your space until you officially check in and pick up your keys.

There is a wide variety of activities planned for Welcome Week.  Students should plan to stay and participate in the fun!  Check out the calendar of events at http://studentevents.ucsd.edu.
