Orientation FAQs

Every year, Warren College staff receive many questions about the First Year and Transfer Orientation programs. Our Orientation FAQs list some helpful answers to the most commonly asked questions we receive.  Students that are registered to attend Orientation Programs will also receive e-mail communication from the college with information specific to each Orientation Program prior to arrival.

Academic Advising

Warren College academic advising provides a variety of online tutorials and resources to help answer all of your academic questions. Visit their website for the most up-to-date advising information.

Academic Integrity

The Academic Integrity Office works closely with the colleges, academic departments, administration, and the Office of Graduate Studies to create a culture of academic integrity on campus, reduce student cheating, and process allegations of Policy on Integrity of Scholarship violations.

Placement Exams

Before you begin your first year of classes, make sure you have taken any necessary placement exams.

Placement exams help you determine the course level in which to enroll.

  • Entry Level Writing RequirementThe University of California requires all undergraduate students to demonstrate a minimum proficiency in English composition through the Entry Level Writing Requirement
  • Math Placement Exam: All students who wish to enroll in a math course at UC San Diego must take the placement exam unless you have already qualified for enrollment
  • Chemistry web-based exam: This exam is optional but recommended for students who plan to take general chemistry at UC San Diego
  • Foreign Language web-based exam: If you are interested in taking a foreign language course in French, German, Italian, or Spanish, you should complete the proficiency exam prior to enrolling

Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and CS Bioinformatics majors should review the Computer Science Advisory Information before enrolling into CSE 3, CSE 8A/L and CSE 11
