Readmission

Students who have not been enrolled in classes at UC San Diego for two or more consecutive quarters must apply to return to the University through the readmission process.  Find more information regarding readmission, including readmission deadlines, here.

The readmission process is dependent on how you left the University:

Left in Good Academic Standing

  1. Address any holds on your record that may prevent readmission.
  2. File a Readmission Application and pay the required fee.
  3. The Registrar's Office will send a readmission approval notification.
  4. Send official transcripts of all work completed at other institutions to the UC San Diego Admissions Office.

Left While on Academic Probation or Subject to Disqualification

  1. Meet with a Warren academic counselor to discuss your readmission. 
  2. If approved:
    1. File a Readmission Application with the Registrar's Office and pay the required fee.
    2. The Registrar's Office will require approval from the Warren Academic Advising Office.
    3. Once approved, the Registrar's Office will send a readmission approval notification.
    4. Send official transcripts of all work completed at other institutions to the UC San Diego Admissions Office.
  3. You will return to the University in the same academic status in which you left. 

Academically Disqualified

  1. Future readmission will be contingent on completion of required coursework.  Complete one of the appropriate readmission options.
  2. If approved:
    1. File a Readmission Application with the Registrar's Office and pay the required fee.
    2. The Registrar's Office will require approval from the Warren Academic Advising Office.
    3. The Registrar's Office will send a readmission approval notification.
    4. Send official transcripts of all work completed at other institutions to the UC San Diego Admissions Office.
  3. You will return to the University in Subject to Disqualification status.

Academically Disqualified for Not Meeting the Entry Level Writing Requirement

  1. Consult with the Analytical Writing Program Office at (858) 534-6177 regarding readmission.
  2. If you are approved for readmission:
    1. File a Readmission Application with the Registrar's Office and pay the required fee.
    2. The Registrar's Office will require approval from the Warren Academic Advising Office.
    3. Once approved, the Registrar's Office will send a readmission approval notification.
    4. Send official transcripts of all work completed at other institutions to the UC San Diego Admissions Office.

Left with a Hold Placed by the Dean of Student Affairs

  1. Contact the Warren Student Affairs Office at 858-534-4731.
  2. If the hold is removed, and you left in good academic standing, file a Readmission Application and pay the required fee. Otherwise, refer to the instructions above.
  3. Send official transcripts of all work completed at other institutions to the UC San Diego Admissions Office.
