Meet our Warren College 2020-2021 New Student Orientation Team! Learn about our majors, hometowns, and favorite UC San Diego traditions. We are thrilled to connect with our Warren College students throughout the summer, Fall Orientation, and Welcome Weeks.

Applications for a position on our New Student Orientation Team opens annually in mid-October. These positions are Co-Curricular Record (CCR) Approved opportunities at UC San Diego.

How to Apply

Applications for a position on our New Student Orientation Team opens annually in mid-October. Current Warren College students will be directed to complete the following items to be considered for an interview.

  • Complete an online student employment application form
  • Submit resume indicating work, volunteer, and co-curricular involvement
  • Submit cover letter sharing your interest in the position
  • Submit one (1) letter of recommendation


Our Warren College New Student Orientation Team is comprised of a diverse group of current students from across the country and abroad. Our team of Warren College students are compassionate leaders pursuing a wide variety of majors, represent all backgrounds, and are involved in student organizations at Warren College and UC San Diego.

  • Current UC San Diego Warren College undergraduate student with good conduct and in good academic standing
  • Flexible, excellent time management, and demonstrated ability to work well under pressure
  • Communicates effectively in small group and public settings using inclusive language
  • Facilitates informative and engaging discussions and activities

Work Schedule and Mandatory Dates

Orientation Interns hold regular office hours between 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

  • 10-12 hours per week winter quarter
  • 10-15 hours per week spring quarter
  • 10-18 hours per week during the summer

Training and Warren College Orientation dates are mandatory for the New Student Orientation Team.

  • Orientation Intern Training begins winter quarter
  • Orientation Leader Training begins spring quarter
  • Orientation Assistant Training begins late summer, 3-4 weeks before the start of fall quarter
  • Warren College Orientation dates are announced in spring quarter

Student Paid Positions

Orientation Interns

Orientation Interns (OIs) are creative problem solvers, enthusiastic team players, and Warren College student leaders. Interns support the development and implementation of the Warren College New Student Orientation program and process. Interns provide work direction, develop training schedules and activities, and serve as leaders and resources for Orientation Leaders (OLs) and Orientation Assistants (OAs).

Interns support the development of marketing materials, social media and communications, logistics and event planning, and training and development of Orientation Leaders and Assistants.

Preference for Orientation Intern positions are given to students with prior experience working with the Warren College New Student Orientation Team.


Orientation Leaders

Orientation Leaders (OLs) are energetic, inclusive, team players. OLs work closely with new first-year and transfer students to welcome and orient them to the Warren College family and UC San Diego Triton community.

OLs are social media savvy with demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. OLs serve as a peer resource for new students. They guide new students through Warren College New Student Orientation and facilitate small group discussions and activities for members of their OL groups. OLs share their student experiences, helpful tips, and important campus information.

Ideal candidates are current Warren College students interested in developing their public speaking, inclusive communication, and compassionate leadership skills. OLs work well in team settings and individually.


Orientation Assistants

Orientation Assistants (OAs) prepare New Student Orientation materials and giveaways, lead technical set up in Canvas and Zoom, coordinate New Student Orientation logistics, provide technical support, and collect and compile data.

Ideal candidates are current Warren College students with demonstrated inclusive communication and organization skills.
