Qualifications

Our Warren College Orientation Team is a diverse group of current students from across the country and abroad. We are compassionate leaders pursuing a wide variety of majors and involved in many student organizations at Warren College and UC San Diego.

  • Must be in good academic standing. Holding a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 and completing 36 units during any three consecutive quarters to maintain minimum progress and qualify for further registration.
  • Must pay UC San Diego student services fees each quarter working (Spring 2025 UC San Diego student services fees to work Summer 2025)
  • Must be able to manage time effectively, work well under pressure, communicate clearly, function well as a team member, and display an awareness of and sensitivity to cultural diversity
  • Must be available to work irregular hours beginning June 2025
  • Must be flexible and have ability to adapt readily and appropriately to the changing demands of a program, project, or assignment
  • Must have ability to present information clearly and accurately

Work Schedule & Mandatory Dates

All dates and hours listed below are TENTATIVE and subject to change or vary. 

Orientation Interns 

Must hold regular office hours between 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m.- 12 noon Fridays.

  • 5-15 hours per week in Winter Quarter
  • 5-15 hours per week in Spring Quarter
  • 15-20 hours per week during the Summer
  • Up to 40 hours the week of Orientation

Training and Warren College Orientation dates are mandatory for all student orientation staff.

Orientation Leaders 

Training is weekly from 1 to 2 hours during the entirety of Spring Quarter April-June 2025. To be determined.

Other Mandatory Dates: All dates and hours listed below are TENTATIVE and subject to change or vary

  • All-Colleges Orientation Leader Retreat: May 17,18 or 31 2025, 9 am - 4 pm
  • Virtual Summer Training June-July: TBA as needed
  • Virtual Orientation College Welcome: August 2025
  • Orientation Part I: August 2025 (virtual)
  • Orientation Early Move-In (on campus): As early as September 12 - September 16
  • If living off campus, must be in the close vicinity to Warren, during September 12 - 24, 2025 to assist with in-person Orientation.
  • In Person Fall Orientation Leader Training: As early as September 13th 
  • Orientation Sessions: September 17 - September 24 
  •  Welcome Week and Unolympics: September 22 - September 24

Student Paid Positions

Orientation Interns

Compensation is TBD

Orientation Interns (OIs) are creative problem solvers, enthusiastic team players, and Warren College student leaders. Interns support the development and implementation of the Warren College Orientation programs and processes. Interns provide work direction, develop training schedules and activities, and serve as leaders and resources for Orientation Leaders (OLs) and Orientation Assistants (OAs).

Interns support the development of marketing materials, social media and communications, logistics and event planning, and training and development of Orientation Leaders and Assistants.

Preference for Orientation Intern positions are given to students with prior experience working with the Warren College Orientation Team.

 

Orientation Leaders

Compensation is TBD

Orientation Leaders (OLs) are energetic, inclusive, team players. OLs work closely with new first-year and transfer students to welcome and orient them to the Warren College family and UC San Diego Triton community.

OLs are social media savvy with demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. OLs serve as a peer resource for new students. They guide new students through Warren College New Student Orientation and facilitate small group discussions and activities for members of their OL groups. OLs share their student experiences, helpful tips, and important campus information.

Ideal candidates are current Warren College students interested in developing their public speaking, inclusive communication, and compassionate leadership skills. OLs work well in team settings and individually.
